Doesn't it seem only fair to search the recorded words of Jesus Himself, to see if He left us a response to this question? We need not search far -
"I am the way, the truth, and the life...NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER, EXCEPT BY ME!" (John 14:6)
That should clear this question up rather soundly! But wait, I can almost feel it...many who are reading this are asking -
"How do you know Jesus really said that?"
There are 27 ancient and venerable writings containing both eyewitness accounts of Jesus' words and deeds, and reliable comments by those eyewitness biographers or their close associates. Those writings are known as the New Testament. In the providence of God, there is almost no other contemporary biographical documentation or commentary about Jesus of Nazareth.
Innumerable sermons have been preached, volumes written, and discussions held about Jesus, in virtually every corner of the globe since His life on earth. All of that is ultimately based on the four gospels and the other 23 books of the New Testament. If the Jesus of the New Testament is not the real, historical Jesus, than it's every man for himself, to "make up his own Jesus".
Like a child's doll with a voice mechanism, a manufactured messiah can be made to say anything the factory manager desires. And whatever a polystyrene saviour can say is about as spiritually gripping as a talking doll's handful of baby talk blurbs!
Ho, hum...yaw-w-w-n. No wonder people are turning in their resignations to those "managers", getting up off their pews, and flocking out of the "factories"! They are returning to the holy, loving, majestic, and wonderful Jesus of the Bible, Who unequivocally declares -
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:17-18)
